Oil and Equipment Condition Monitoring

Machinery oil analysis typically yields a financial return of 6-to-1. Prescient significantly increases the accuracy, consistency and value of this analysis.

Oil analysis is a non-invasive method for assessing a machine's internal condition. The contaminants in an oil sample (e.g., metals, anti-freeze, fuel) are indicators of problems that may exist inside a component such as an engine or gear box. In medicine, blood sample testing and analysiis is a direct analogy.

How Prescient Works

Prescient is an intelligent system specifically designed for oil analysis data evaluation. Oil samle interpretation involves three steps:

1. Prescient incorporates a set of statistically derived boundary tables for assessing the severity of each test result. These tables comprehensively address the broad range of contaminants that can be found in oil samples from various kinds of components and manufacturers

2. The system uses an expert knowledge base to interpret the contaminant patterns in an oil sample, using the boundary tables as a starting point for determining the severity of each contaminant.

3. Once a diagnosis has been performed, Prescient generates tailored comments describing the machine's condition and recommendaations for action to be taken.

Prescient can take test data from any laboratory and generate an accurate and detailed report, making it possible for operators to make more informed decisions about maintaining their equipment. Because equipment uptime is so closely related to productivity, Prescient can significantly improve an organization's bottom line.
